I made these illustrations about the history of the old tunnel under the Elbe in Hamburg for the ‘Hamburg liest die Elbe’ festival. The illustrations were made to be displayed on 5 posters and then additionally be included in a book that features many other stories about the river Elbe.
I did all the research and the writing myself so it was a very immersive projects, which was very challenging and fun!
Each poster shows a different part of tunnel history starting at the initial problem that the tunnel was supposed to solve, the planning, the working conditions, the technical challenges and finally the usage within the first year of its opening.
